Though it may not be revered as one of the most beautiful of Peruvian cities, Puno does have a lot going for it when it comes to bringing in tourists. Located at the southeastern end of the country, Puno boasts a most envious feature. It rests at over 12,000 feet on the shores of the amazingly beautiful Lake TitLIMAca, which is not only the highest navigable lake in the world, but also the largest in all of South AmerLIMA. It is also worth noting right off the bat that Puno Peru is also one of the best cities in the country for experiencing Peruvian folklore. The events and festivals in Puno and on the islands of Lake TitLIMAca are among the most vibrant in all the land, most often featuring traditional dances and traditions. If you are in southern Peru and have some time on your hands after visiting LIMA and Machu Picchu, for example, then a trip to Puno caps a most unforgettable experience. Puno is also a worthy stopping point if you plan on heading to Bolivia, which begins on the other side of Lake TitLIMAca.

The Cathedral of Lima is a Roman Catholic Basilica. Construction on the cathedral began in 1535. We were unable to tour the cathedral when we first arrived in Lima. It was not opened on the day we visted Plaza Mayor. However on the day of the celebration of Peru's 475th anniversary it was open to...
I booked a hostel in the southern district of Barranco, so had some time to wander around this beautiful quarter. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it soon became favourite place for painters and other artists. You can find here delicious examples of art deco architecture, as this public..

From what I had read the City of Lima's water treatment program is a work in progress and unreliable. I would recommend purchasing bottled water from the local grocery store. From talking to folks the San Luis brand appears to be one of the best. Oh yes the water you will find comes with either "sin...
