Introduction

Arequipa is Peru's second largest city and was founded in 1540. The site was chosen for its proximity to the coast, enabling settlers to trade the products of Cusco and the mines of Potosi (Bolivia) with Lima. The local cultivation of wheat, corn and grapes all contributed to the regions economic growth.

The city is surrounded by 3 volcanoes; El Misti, still active at 5822m, the higher and extinct Chachani 6075m and Pichu Pichu 571m. The Incas highly respected these volcanoes since the melt water from their snow-capped peaks form the headwaters of the mighty Amazon River, thousands of kilometers away

DAY 01: Transfer In / City Tours

/ Monastery

Transfer in to the hotel.Welcome with coca te.

In the afternoon we will visit Santa Catalina Monastery, afther that we will visit San Francisco convent and Fundo el Fierro where there are handicrafts.It is posssible to buy them. Then we will visit the Cathedral and la main square and finally La Compañía church.

DAY 02: Countryside

Breakfast, then we will go to Paucarpata to see terraces, then molino de Sabandía, la Mansión del fundador an important old house, Sachaca viewpoint, Carmen Alto viewpoint and finally Yanahuara main square and church.

If you want, we would have our lunch in a traditional restaurant (extra).

Hotel.

DAY 03: Arequipa / Colca Canyon / Chivay town

Afther breakfast we will depart to Chivay. We will approach the National Reserve of Pampa Cañahuas. We will pass through Tocra where we will observe the small lakes with migrant birds. Our highest point will be Patapampa. After finding our romos.Lunch. At 4:30 p.m. we’ll take our towels to enjoy the natural hot springs La Calera and in the night we will have folk show.Hotel.

DAY 04: Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint / Chivay / Arequipa

Breakfast. Visit to the Cruz del cóndor viewpoint , on the way we will see the terraces and will visit small towns like Yanque and Maca.

Lunch in the town of Chivay.

Return to Arequipa at 4.30 p.m.

DAY 05: Arequipa / Transfer Out

Breakfast.

Transfer out to the Airport or to Bus station.
