Introduction

Most people who visit Arequipa take a tour out to the Cañon de Colca, one of the worlds deepest canyons formed by an enormous seismic fault between the Coropuna (6425m) and Ampato (6325m) volcanoes. (actually the worlds deepest canyon is the nearby Cotahuasi Canyon)
Beautiful unspoiled Andean villages line both sides of the canyon. In addition you'll have great views of the smoking Sabancaya volcano, one of the America's most active volcanoes, as well seeing the many traditional pre-Inca agricultural terraces which line the steep valley sides.

Tour Highlights

Day 1

6:30 AM.- Departure from Arequipa

to Colca Canyon. Going by bus from 2300 m to

3780 m. passing through the Vicugnas National Reservation.

12:00 PM.- Get off the bus in Cabanaconde. We will have lunch in a restaurant. Then we start walking down to Pallca village (5 hours of walking approximately).

17:00 PM.- We get to the Colca River and twenty minutes later we arrive to San Juan de Chuccho. We will enjoy the green areas and friendly people. We will have dinner with Andean people. We will rest and sleep in local houses.

18:30 PM.- We get to our lodge where we have a rest. Then you can enjoy the hot springs or trout fish along the river.

19:30 PM.- Dinner and then sleep in cabins.

Day 2

06:00 AM.- We will get up very early to have breakfast and continue our walk, then we will visit the Llatica village (2,438m), and some other interesting places.

12:00 PM.- We will arrive at the camp in a small village called Fure (2,758m), a beautiful oasis after 5 hours of walking. We will have lunch here and after a short rest we will head to the beautiful Huaruro Cataratas (80m high waterfall), as well as the falls of Tocallo River.

17:00 PM.- Return to Fure.

19:30 PM.- Dinner and then sleep in cabins.

Day 3

7:00 AM.- Breakfast.

8:00 AM.- We start the hike to the Sangalle Oasis, after four hours we will arrive at Sangalle. Here we will have lunch and a free afternoon to enjoy a swim in the pool.

15:00 AM.- After a couple of hours resting, we start hiking up hill to Cabanaconde town (3 hours walking), where we will have dinner and spend our third night in a nice hotel.

Day 4

6:00 AM.- After breakfast we take the very first bus to Cruz Del Condor (20 minutes away)

8:00 AM.- We will see the Condor in Cruz del Condor to enjoy the flying and then go

directly to Chivay.

In Chivay, we will go by taxi to the hot springs of La Calera (38 degrees) very good feeling after the 3 days of hiking. We will have lunch in a nice restaurant and then get on the bus station to return to Arequipa.

7:00 PM.- Arrival to Arequipa.
