3 DAYS TREK COLCA CANYON - A03TK-CO

Tour Highlights

 

Day 1:

 

We start our program for this trekking to Colca in Arequipa

at 6.00 am. We use a public bus or a “colectivo” (in this buses we go directly to Colca canyon, this takes more than 6 hours and we go whit some local people in the bus, this is not a tourist bus like in our tailor made treks to Colca). We pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the bus station. We arrive to the place where the Colca canyon is located “Cabanaconde”, here we are going to have lunch and after this, we’ll prepare ourselves for the trekking in to the Colca Canyon. We do the colcahike that is going to take about 4 hrs. We descend approximately 1,200 meters in to the canyon. The 1st. night we sleep in the Village San Juan de Chuccho in rustic cabins, from this village we will have a really nice view of this deep canyon Colca. Then we will have dinner, prepared by our guide and at last we go to sleep.

 

Day 2:

 

After breakfast we walk 2 hours to Sangalle (visiting the villages of Cosñirgua and Malata) we arrive to the deepest point of this trekking in the Colca Canyon that is call  Sangalle, this place looks more like an Oasis. At the Oasis of Sangalle we are going to have lunch and some rest and relax swimming in the pool. After this long stop, we start walk during the afternoon; we reach Cabanaconde after 3 hours of hiking out of the Colca canyon, climbing from the 2000 meters to 3200 meters, arriving to our hotel that is basic, but has clean rooms with private baths and hot showers. We visit the main square of the village, appreciating the beautiful Cabanas Dresses. After this we have a good dinner and sleep at our hotel.

 

Day 3:

 

Next day after a good breakfast, we take the very first public bus to Cruz del Condor viewpoint, after one hour we continue in the next public bus(this buses are over crowded of locals) to the Calera (hot springs 39º degrees), another option we have is to visit the market, then lunch in a typical restaurant at Chivay. We take the next public bus in Chivay and arrive to Arequipa at 7.30 or 8.00 pm., and we leave you at your hotel in a taxi.

 

Note: This is a nice trip in public bus directly to Colca, our guide is a very good one, but is not our usual tailor made Colca trip,  is just a choice to help our passengers to have other alternatives, because you walk half time and drive half time. Remember please that this trip to Colca is drive hike and drive.

 

Trekking Equipment:

 

Big back pack, travel towel, swimming suit, mosquito repellent, sun blocked, toilet paper, hiking boots, flash light, batteries, sun hat, sun glasses, coins (some change for drinks) a good book so you can read on your free time, rain jacket and a sleeping bag (optional).
